Your plan, separate from issuer approval
The plan allocates your chosen hours to seven-day periods before your target date. A partial final period has proportional capacity. Edit the hours and notes below each period; the tool reports any shortfall against your own target. These are all-day study reminders, not scheduled classes or an exam reservation.
Formal training hours, exam preparation and professional experience are different things. The planner does not check your eligibility or certify course completion. Costs and your study-hour target are user inputs, not official fee quotes or recommended preparation time.
Issuer guidance reviewed October 29, 2026: PMI CAPM and PMI PMP. Recheck requirements and training-provider rules before paying. Use the certification guide to compare paths, or explore the PM job preview. A credential does not guarantee a job or pay increase.
Build your PMP study plan and preparation budget
Use this PMP study planner for your own PMP or CAPM exam preparation schedule. Choose a target date, weekly study hours and a personal study-hour goal. The planner spreads your chosen hours across weekly periods and keeps estimated costs beside the schedule.
- Choose the certification, start date and target date. Enter the hours you can study each week and your own total preparation target. The tool does not prescribe a standard number of study hours.
- Add costs you know or want to estimate in one currency. Leave unknown costs blank. Review any capacity shortfall, then edit each period’s hours and study tasks.
- Copy or download the study plan and budget. Export an optional calendar file, review it and import it into your calendar if useful.
You can use the task notes for reading, practice questions, reviewing mistakes or a practice exam. Choose materials that fit the current exam content and your own learning needs. The plan does not provide a question bank, mock exams, training courses or an exam-readiness score. Check PMI’s current certification requirements, accepted training and exam fees directly before booking. A study plan does not establish eligibility or reserve an exam date.
Choose study material for your PMP exam preparation
Before you build your study schedule, check the PMP Exam Content Outline on PMI’s site for the version of the exam you plan to take. Record your target exam date and the materials you intend to use. If you choose a study guide, the PMBOK Guide, a prep course or an exam simulator, check its edition and coverage against that outline.
Give each study period a concrete task. Your notes might include reading a topic, explaining a project management concept in your own words, answering PMP practice questions and reviewing why an answer was wrong. If your materials cover agile approaches, schedule time to work through those examples too. These are ways to fill in your own plan, not a prescribed syllabus.
Allow study time for practice exams and reviewing mistakes, rather than counting only reading hours. If you use a full-length mock exam, budget for both the attempt and the review. Keep exam readiness separate from hours completed: this planner tracks the schedule you enter and does not assess whether you are prepared to pass the PMP exam.
Review your available study hours when a week changes. Move tasks, update the weekly study blocks and check the remaining capacity before deciding whether your target date is realistic. Keep exam-day arrangements, official eligibility and any required training separate from personal exam prep. No study duration or four-week PMP study plan can guarantee certification.
